India,
proudly, tells the whole world, that women are respected the most in the
country. 16th night of December, is the night; every woman should be
ashamed of living in such an insecured environment. This is the day, when,
woman stepped out of their shells and raised their voices for their gender.
Woman, wrong, girls, were always sexually and mentally harassed by men. But,
the Delhi gang-rape case has brought women, men, and the younger generations’
realization to fight against the atrocities against women. My mother had organized for a candle march for the victim, at necklace road on Dec 21. This was the day, when students from different kinds of schools and colleges met and prayed for the girl's speed recovery. I went there with my family and friends, we were all holding placards, supporting the victim and for stopping pares and sexual harassment's happening in India. Over 100 people have come there, supporting for her. Different kinds of news channels came to cover. It was a walk from the NTR gardens' front gate.
This particular march has helped me to notice how many people have come out to support and are not ready to let justice be denied. It has helped me to develop into a better person - it has helped me to work collaboratively with people my own age and it has also increased a lot of awareness in the public. When my mother first informed me about the march, she gave me and my brother a responsibility to invite people and to make sure that they come and she also gave me the power to organise the march - this responsibilty has helped me to believe in myself a bit more. To look at so many people holding candles in their right hand a placards in the left hand and shouting slogans, was, something, truly. This case gained a lot of support from throughout India. We have done something for her, we showed our support, and now it's the government's turn. Something has to be done to stop all this.
Throughout my grade 11, every week, I and my friends developed a habit to go to a nearby school in Mokilla Thanda, where we help the children in studies, play with them and most of all, have a lot of fun! For my first visit, I and my friends taught the kids - alphabets and how to write their names in english; and after the studies aprt was done and we all played some local games like "Kabbadi" and danced and took many pictures together. Some of my friends also served the kids their lunch. This was my first visit and the best - it helped to enjoy even the little things in my life and taught me how important food and studies were. The kids didn't wast even one grain of rice. When one of the kids was facing difficulty in trying to understand english, I and my other friend tried to help our friend out by talking to the kid in the local languages - telugu and hindi - we shared out responsibilities and commitments and overcame the language obstacle. One of my friend learnt telugu from one of the kid and in return, she taught the kid some english words. We learnt how to deal with children and developed a new skill - how to be creative. There are children up-to grade 7 in that school and they had always welcomed us very warmly. I usually help out the 1st graders along with a group of friends. One thing, that I understood from visiting them so many times, is that, they are sometimes neglected, in studies. They are not very good with their english. Even though we have a communication gap we still manage to have fun together. I think, everyone should take out some time from their "busy" schedules to help out others as this not only helps you to become a better person but also helps you to have some fun. I'm doing my part, are you?
Yoga is one of the six schools of Hindu philosophy. Pranayam Camp was a yoga camp conducted by Indus International School for five days. Everybody present including the teachers, were expected to practice yoga for an hour. When anyone mentions about yoga, common reaction from anyone of my age, would be, boredom. Well, to tell the truth, that was my reaction too! But, that was until I started practicing it. This was a very new experience for me in my life -It gave me relaxation in the early mornings and helped me to start off my day with a fresg mind. It made me realise what I missed. My mornings were no more sleepy or tired, but fresh, filled with energy. Meditation was a refreshment for me. When the Major taught me "Surya Namaskar", It helped me so much, that, I started to practice it almost everyday. Toga is a new skill that I developed through this camp and something that will help me throughout my life - if I keep practising it. There were four exercises taught by the Major - simple, but very helpful as it helps me burn down many calories in just a few minutes. Yoga helps one to stay healthy, it acts as a complementary intervention for cancer, schizophrenia, asthma and heart patients and also a very good way to manage your anger. Conducting the Yoga camp by my school was one of the best things that they've done for us, I will not regret it and hope that no one else will either.
